    Purpose of Site

Special Relativity

The original and continued purpose of these pages is to present an assessment of special relativity. This purpose has since been expanded to include all aspects of science and philosophy. Readers who have opinions on the subjects are encouraged to submit them for posting on the site. Dialogues that may ensue will also be posted provided they serve to highlight and explore various aspects for the benefit of the correspondents and other readers.
Scientific Papers
The submisssion of papers on a variety of scientific subjects suggests a broader purpose for the site; the opportunity for public presentation of theories, etc. without prior and arbitrary assessment, criticism or rejection by the recipient. Judgement by the few runs counter to the spirit of scientific exploration. The internet provides a potential world of criticism and support. Authors who make their theories known in this manner will probably find both.

Style Guidelines for Presentation of Papers:

Uniform styling and formatting insures readability and adds a level of professionalism and identity. By far the best format available for the internet is PDF. It provides a reading clarity not possible with other methods and for this reason, has been adopted as the standard on GSJ.

The Adobe PDF program is widely used. Some word processors, such as Wordperfect and Open Office provide automatic conversion. A free program for converting to PDF from many source programs (MSWord, HTML, etc) may be downloaded from PDF995.com. This is supported by advertising but may be purchased for a small fee, advertising removed. Another free program is available from PrimoPDF. Papers may be forwarded as MSWord documents for conversion to PDF by GSJ.

Identification:
The GSJ logo may be copied by clicking HERE or by entering http://wbabin.net/gs3.bmp in your browser address line. Right-click the logo and select "Save Picture As" from the drop-down menu. The logo should be placed on the left top of the title page of your paper.

Font:
Please use 12 point type for serif or 10 point for san serif fonts throughout (Times New Roman or Arial fonts are recommended. Use bold for titles and sub-titles to differentiate from regular text. Underlining is not recommended, particularly on email addresses, since it obscures the text.

Spacing: Use double spacing to separate paragraphs, diagrams and text from formulas. Multiple line formulas may be single-spaced.

Communication

Papers on-site contain the email addresses of the contributors for direct communication.
